UNDP Launches Creative-Tech Incubator to Empower African Entrepreneurs
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has launched the Timbuktoo Creative Hub Ideation Incubation Programme on June 5, 2025, aimed at fostering early-stage African entrepreneurs. Set to begin in July, this initiative will support 20-30 founders from 10 African countries, helping them develop their creative businesses and secure investment opportunities.

The Timbuktoo Creative Hub Ideation Incubation Programme, backed by UNDP, aims to support early-stage entrepreneurs across Africa, particularly focusing on creative fields. This initiative commences in July 2025.
Selected participants will engage in a six-week virtual program that facilitates the validation of business ideas and imparts essential skills for market entry, thus preparing them for future investments.
Maxwell Gomera from UNDP emphasized the program’s goal: fostering youth-led ventures to enrich the creative economy while promoting cultural preservation and inclusive growth throughout the continent.
Targeted Support for Young Entrepreneurs
Targeting 18 to 35-year-olds, the program prioritizes entrepreneurs from ten African countries, including South Africa, Nigeria, and Zambia, and particularly encourages participation from women-led ventures.
Participants will benefit from workshops that cover critical topics such as networking, financial literacy, and branding, preparing them comprehensively for a final demo day with potential investors.
Applications for this impactful initiative will remain open until 27 June 2025, with more details available on the UNDP’s website, allowing aspiring founders to seize this unique opportunity.
