DJ Zeal’s chapter at Ukhozi FM has concluded.
The well-known broadcaster, whose actual name is Zandile Dladla, has confirmed her exit from the station after seven years of hosting.
Her voice became integral to many listeners, particularly through her “Fakumoya” show on Fridays from 8pm to 12am and “Ndabezinhle” on Sundays from 12am to 3am.
<spanIn a post on her Instagram, Dladla expressed her thoughts on her time at Ukhozi FM, emphasizing the significance of broadcasting in isiZulu.
“It has been an enlightening experience working for a public broadcaster with a public mandate and broadcasting in my mother tongue, isiZulu,” she remarked.
During her tenure, she not only entertained but also connected with listeners, utilizing the isiZulu language to create an authentic and culturally resonant experience.
She indicated that this career move signals a fresh start.
“I have previously worked for four highly commercial radio stations, all broadcasting in English. This part of the journey marks a powerful rebranding and transition into commercial – predominantly English broadcasting for me,” she commented.
Prior to her time at Ukhozi FM, the 38-year-old presenter amassed significant experience in commercial radio, preparing her for a return to this environment with clarity about her identity as a broadcaster.
Over the years, she has established a strong personal brand and gained recognition within the industry.
Her radio career has earned her two nominations for the Telkom Radio Awards and a win for Best Dance Radio Show for “Fakumoya” at the 2025 South African Dance Music Awards.
She also conveyed appreciation towards her colleagues and the audience that supported her throughout her journey.
“I extend heartfelt gratitude to Ukhozi FM, my colleagues, and my loyal listeners and followers. However, there is a time for everything under the sun.”
While Dladla has not disclosed her next steps, her supporters will be eager to see what unfolds in her career.
