Elsa Majimbo pledges to stay child-free
The Kenyan comedian Elsa Majimbo sparked attention on social media by openly stating that she intends to avoid motherhood.
On X (formerly Twitter), Majimbo wrote: “Child free till the day I die. I’m a mother to my freedom.”

Her statement quickly gained traction online, yielding a variety of reactions.
Some users found the discourse about individual choices entertaining, with one commenting: “This topic will always have strangers fighting each other over life choices and it’s somehow a funny watch lol.”
Majimbo remained firm, rejecting the opinions of those who implied her viewpoint was errant.
She responded: “Hey tryna convince me it’s a mistake. I’m not a fool. F** them kids.”*
Others shared their strong viewpoints regarding family and autonomy.
One individual remarked: “I’m still looking for whoever that lied to young black women that raising a family means you have no freedom.”
Another took a more severe stance, stating: “I think people that say that are people who don’t have a womb or the ability to give birth. They are hiding under ‘I don’t want a child.’ Maybe they make messy about themselves trying to do abortion.”
