Emtee
Emtee has addressed the uproar following a video that depicted him seemingly dozing off during a live performance. The footage drew significant backlash on social media.
The South African rapper took to X to clarify his position, responding to the criticism frequently aimed at artists during the busy festive period.
In a pointed post, Emtee contested the idea that performers are inebriated when issues arise during shows.
“Yeah yeh I know there’s always complaints about artists, gigs etc especially in December. We human gang! Niggas only understand if and when you in a car accident. Mane y’all taking us to foreign lands, expecting niggas tomorrow perform like MJ,” he stated.
In a subsequent message, the artist clarified that it was fatigue, rather than drug use, that contributed to the incident.
He explained that the rigorous schedule of festive season bookings impacts performers heavily, often forcing them to take the stage under challenging and exhausting circumstances.
“Mane I be tired FR, f*** all he’s high sh*t. Don’t book den nigga,” Emtee continued.
“It’s festive season. I could be cooling with family and spending quality time, not putting my life at risk for peanuts.”
His remarks have only intensified the debate online, with some supporters expressing empathy towards his situation and acknowledging that artists often face excessive demands in December.
Conversely, others have insisted that professionalism remains crucial, especially for fans who pay to see performances.
