The initial release of DIY 3 on October 31, 2024, garnered attention for its authentic African trap style, multilingual expressions, and themes relating to personal growth, challenges, and family. Tracks like “GOOD TIME”, “KEEP IT REAL” featuring Saudi, and “PATIENCE” with Just G reinforced Emtee’s status as a forerunner in South Africa’s melodic trap movement. The Deluxe edition adds six new tracks, broadening the album to a total of 17 and showcasing an impressive lineup of collaborations that enrich the work as a whole.
This expanded edition introduces more than 20 minutes of fresh music. Each new track provides a unique insight into Emtee’s artistic evolution, featuring some of the most prominent figures in the industry.
The newly included songs in DIY 3 Deluxe offer a fascinating continuation of Emtee’s narrative, starting with the motivating “Dreams 2.0” featuring Young Stunna. This track establishes an energetic tone underscored by themes of ambition. The mood shifts with “4 DA Trenches” alongside Sjava, employing haunting melodies and candid reflections on survival, crafting one of the album’s most moving segments.
Next, the tempo picks up significantly with “WTS” featuring Blue Pappi and LaCabra, which introduces a lively, club-ready vibe, contrasting sharply with the previous introspective pieces. Shortly after, Emtee joins Young Stunna again on “Benithini Ngam’”, which provides a heartfelt and melodic exploration of personal challenges and overlooked sacrifices, adding emotional depth to the collection.
As the album progresses, “How About Now” features Emtee asserting his confidence while reflecting on growth and resilience, presenting a tone that balances triumph with assertiveness. The Deluxe edition concludes with “Feelings” featuring Loatinover Pounds, a reflective and profound piece that cohesively ties together the new songs, delivering a resonant and sincere finale.
