Kanye West’s eagerly awaited concert in Johannesburg, scheduled for 13 December 2025, has been postponed, corroborating doubts regarding the event’s feasibility.
Peter Jideonwo, Ye’s manager, announced that the concert is being redeveloped to become a larger-scale Yeezy-oriented production.
“Yeezy LLC confirms that Ye’s Johannesburg performance is being expanded into a larger Yeezy-led production in South Africa,” the statement read.
“To support the bigger production and broadcast plans, the performance previously scheduled for Saturday, 13 December 2025 will not be taking place on that date and is moving to a new date.”
Jideonwo emphasized Ye’s ongoing commitment to perform in Africa.
“Ye and the Yeezy team remain committed and excited to perform in South Africa and to share the Johannesburg homecoming live and via broadcast with fans worldwide.
A new date will be announced in the coming days via Ye’s verified channels and Yeezy LLC,” the statement concluded.
Additionally, it was confirmed that Monyake Group, originally pegged as the concert promoter, has been removed from the undertaking.
“Yeezy LLC is no longer working with the previously announced promoter on this project due to non-compliance,” the statement noted.
Fans who purchased tickets will receive full refunds through TicketPro.
This postponement in Johannesburg follows a similar incident in Brazil, where a concert scheduled for 29 November 2025 was canceled just a week prior.
The São Paulo venue severed its contract in October, with the city’s mayor later declaring that no public venue would be provided for the event.
A statement from the Brazilian organizers confirmed they could not find a venue that met Ye’s specifications.
“With great regret, we announce that the concert of artist Kanye West (YE)… will not be held,” the organizers mentioned.
They highlighted that increasing production demands alongside political challenges rendered it “impossible to deliver the event”.
The new date for Kanye’s performance in South Africa is expected to be announced shortly.
