Amapiano artist Kelvin Momo is set to perform in Durban, headlining his eagerly awaited One Man Concert on April 5 at the Moses Mabhida Stadium People’s Park.
This event, in collaboration with Durban Tourism and Don Julio, represents a significant achievement for Thato Kelvin Ledwaba, the man behind the sound that has become synonymous with the softer, soulful side of amapiano known as “Private School Piano.”
Despite previous controversies surrounding missed performances, Kelvin has assured fans in KwaZulu-Natal of his commitment to this show.
“Durban has always shown me real love. The energy there is warm and soulful, and people truly connect with the music. Bringing this experience to the city felt like the right moment,” he said.
Over time, Kelvin Momo has earned recognition for his groove-focused, emotionally rich tracks that have gained audiences beyond South Africa.
With over 476 million streams on Spotify and nearly two million monthly listeners, his profile is on the rise internationally.
His unique sound has also attracted the interest of notable figures.
Canadian artist Drake has previously praised Kelvin’s music as a “religious experience” and has featured his beats in international performances, which helps showcase amapiano globally.
The concert in Durban promises an engaging musical experience, with Kelvin leading the festivities alongside select collaborators who have influenced his creative journey.
Tickets, ranging from R295 to R795, became available through Webticket on Friday, with organizers anticipating a night to remember featuring one of amapiano’s standout stars.
