Lady Du supports Thatohatsi
Lady Du has publicly backed amapiano artist Thatohatsi, conveying a meaningful message that affirms her beauty and value amid recent criticisms regarding her looks.
In a social media post, the artist shared a photo of Thatohatsi accompanied by an extensive caption that celebrated the young artist as a figure of African beauty and representation.
Lady Du emphasized how self-confidence regarding one’s natural body can serve as motivation for others, particularly young women who often feel compelled to meet restrictive beauty ideals.
In her message, Lady Du contested the concept of an ideal “perfect body,” stating, “We have been sold a picture of the perfect body that people now feel uncomfortable in the bodies God gave them because we are told a woman with a big ass and small waist is the perfect body.”
She underscored that all bodies are legitimate, adding, “God would have never created us the way we are if He didn’t think our bodies were perfect as they are.”
The singer recognized that individuals have the autonomy to make choices about their own bodies to enhance their self-esteem, while also reminding Thatohatsi of her inherent worth.
“The Bible says you are made in God’s image,” she stated, further characterizing the amapiano artist as someone with “star power,” embodying an “international super model” aura, and possessing exceptional vocal talent.
Lady Du also provided words of encouragement grounded in faith, indicating that challenging experiences often carry meaning.
“You carry the weight of God’s children, a blessed voice will always go through hard times,” she said, encouraging Thatohatsi not to forget her value during tough times.
Reflecting on her own history, Lady Du shared that she also faced challenges growing up as a thin girl and eventually learned to accept her body despite moments of insecurity.
“I loved my body… I embraced it,” she remarked, concluding her post with a strong message of support: “I’m posting you on my wall to tell you how beautiful you are… We love you sis.”
