Christopher Nkunku continues to make waves in transfer news as RB Leipzig aims for a dream reunion with the French attacker.
The 27-year-old player departed from the Bundesliga club to join Chelsea in 2023, but due to multiple injuries and erratic performances, his impact with the Blues has been limited, fueling a desire for a return to Germany.
Softfootball reports that Leipzig considers Nkunku a prime target to enhance their offensive lineup, especially after undergoing another season of rebuilding in the Bundesliga. The German club remains in constant communication with Chelsea, yet the specifics of any potential deal pose a challenge.

<p.Transfer analyst Florian Plettenberrg shared the latest updates concerning Nkunku’s future via his verified X handle. He stated:
“Leipzig’s position on Christopher #Nkunku has not changed. The interest is there, they admire him, and Leipzig remain in contact with Chelsea.
“However, a permanent transfer is currently ruled out by RB – if anything, it would have to be a loan deal. #CFC
“Chelsea’s stance remains clear: a permanent deal, or at the very least, an obligation to buy. @SkySportDE”
Softfootball previously mentioned that multiple leading European clubs, including Bayern Munich and Leipzig, are closely monitoring Nkunku’s situation, hoping for a shift in Chelsea’s demands.
Nonetheless, Leipzig is reportedly at the forefront of the pursuit given their prior connections with the player and his understanding of the club.
At this point, Chelsea is hesitant to approve a straightforward loan without solid assurances, particularly after making a significant investment in Nkunku just two summers ago.
Unless Leipzig or another interested club is willing to agree to an obligation to buy, the Blues may opt to retain the Frenchman for another season to allow him a chance to reclaim his form at Stamford Bridge.
