Mzansi roasts Lekau Sehoana as Kite Footwear accused of being Temu rebrands
Entrepreneur Lekau Sehoana has launched a new sneaker line, Kite Footwear, after his previous brand, Drip Footwear, was liquidated earlier this year.
Images of the sneakers emerged online, quickly becoming a topic of discussion on social media platforms.
While some users showed interest in the new brand, a significant number of X users accused Sehoana of marketing low-cost imports as unique creations.
One dissatisfied user remarked: “Man’s just reselling shoes off Temu and adding 300% mark up… 😭😭😭🤷♂️ In the name of support black business… More like support Chinese through black business.”
Additional criticism flowed in, with one commenter stating: “Hommie genuinely needs to look for a job now.”
Another user referenced previous concerns about Drip, saying: “When we complained about Drip for the same thing, you guys said we were hating. Go and buy that Temu shoe for R2000k, support local.”
Screenshots reportedly comparing Kite sneakers to products listed on Temu also circulated widely, intensifying the negative feedback.
Another commentator stated: “Fr, I don’t know why he can’t invest in a legit brand with original designs. He knows the business field and has industry experience; he should structure a solid plan and ditch the knockoff sneakers with logos.”
