The former star of Isibaya, Linda Mtoba, has recently revealed that her income from brand partnerships surpasses that from acting, even though acting remains her true love.
At 33, she is well-known not just for her roles on television but also as an influencer, thanks to her substantial online audience. Over the years, she has secured numerous collaborations with leading brands.
LINDA MTOBA’S BRAND PARTNERSHIPS WITH PRESTIGIOUS BRANDS
Many fans might recognize her collaborations with brands like Vaseline and Huggies, especially since she is a mother to a daughter lovingly referred to as “Bean.”
In March, Mtoba achieved a significant milestone in her career by attending the Oscars in the United States. Collaborating with Don Julio, she also had the opportunity to mingle with Hollywood celebrities like Selena Gomez and Miley Cyrus.
Additionally, she recently celebrated another success by gracing the cover of Glamour SA magazine for the month of May.
ACTING IS DRIVEN BY PASSION, NOT JUST FINANCIAL GAIN
“For me personally, I feel like acting is such a labour of love,” she mentioned during a Q&A on her Instagram stories.
She elaborated on the sacrifices that come with being an actress, noting how they can impact family time, the demanding hours spent on set, and how the earnings from acting do not compare to those from her influencing work.
“The money that I get month end, is equivalent to a one-day content shoot,” Mtoba stated.
This response was in reply to a curious follower who inquired whether she was focusing solely on brand work full-time and whether it was financially beneficial for her.
Mtoba emphasized that her acting career is more about passion than profits. This was underscored by her remark about earning significantly more through brand partnerships.
She is not alone in her sentiments about low compensation in the entertainment sector. Just last month, seasoned actress Nandi Nyembe also took to social media to share her financial difficulties, appealing for donations on Facebook.
