Maglera Doe Boy Discusses New York Encounter with A$AP Rocky Leading to PUMA Collaboration. Maglera Doe Boy has shared insights on how a brief trip to New York evolved into a productive partnership with A$AP Rocky, encompassing recording sessions, video productions, and the foundation for a collaboration with PUMA.

In an interview with SA Hip Hop Reloaded, the Klerksdorp artist explained that Rocky discovered him through the “Memoirs” music video. “I went to New York, and A$AP Rocky saw my stuff. So A$AP Rocky saw my music video for ‘Memoirs’ and he sent his guys, like yo, I wanna speak with this guy,” Maglera recounted. “And when I was shooting Lia Butler – ‘Imimangaliso’ music video he called me for the PUMA collab.”
Maglera added that Rocky’s approach was more than just a casual message; he engaged the South African artist meaningfully. “The first time I went to New York was A$AP Rocky finding me down, go shoot with him. We spent like 4-5 days in New York. I was with Rocky most of the days after shooting,” he mentioned.
In a moment linking their experiences, Rocky even performed one of Maglera’s tracks for him. “The first song that Rocky rapped for me was ‘018’ and he rapped Cassper’s chorus,” Maglera revealed.
This narrative illustrates the extent of Maglera’s artistic expression and the impact of receiving recognition from a prominent figure in fashion and hip-hop, highlighting how such endorsements can lead to significant opportunities. As PUMA joins the equation and international prospects arise, Maglera’s journey in New York reflects a blend of timing, artistry, and dedicated work—demonstrating how a localized production can resonate on a worldwide level.
