The young player from Manchester, who has been with City’s academy since he was eight, is being recognized for his notable advancement to the first team, especially after showing his versatility at left-back. His recent performance was during Manchester City’s 2-0 victory over Huddersfield in the FA Cup third round.

.Fabrizio Romano shared the news on his official X handle:
Official, confirmed. Nico O’Reilly signs new deal at Manchester City until June 2030.
Following interest from Chelsea and other clubs earlier this year, City moved quickly to ensure O’Reilly’s long-term future with the team.
Reports indicate that the contract extension was crucial in preventing the young player from leaving the club. Fabrizio mentioned last August that a move to Leverkusen was in the works before it fell through.
Fabrizio broke that development via his official X handle:
Manchester City and Nico O’Reilly have agreed on new deal for 20 year old talent. Bayer Leverkusen had two bids rejected, #MCFC turned down approaches also from PL and decided to offer him a new contract. Verbal agreement done… and new shirt squad number.
This season, O’Reilly has started in the last four matches, with a notable performance in a strong defensive showing against Arsenal during the 1-1 draw at Emirates Stadium.
Initially playing as an attacking midfielder, O’Reilly made his senior debut in the Community Shield last year and has since excelled in his new role. He appeared in 21 matches across all competitions last season, scoring five goals, three of which were during City’s campaign that led to the FA Cup final.
