Marc Leishman Defends LIV Golfers’ Major Preparation Ahead of US Open Return

Australian golfer Marc Leishman, a former world number 12 and six-time US PGA titleholder, has refuted claims that LIV Golf players are unprepared for major tournaments. After qualifying for the US Open at Oakmont next week, Leishman addressed criticisms about LIV’s format and its impact on competition, asserting that his and others’ schedules provide ample preparation for major events.

Leishman’s Defense of LIV Golf Players

Marc Leishman dismissed claims that LIV Golf players are underprepared for majors, arguing that the tour’s structure actually fosters effective preparation for high-stakes tournaments.

He stated, “I think the way our schedule is structured actually allows for good preparation for the majors,” emphasizing the competitive nature of LIV events.

Leishman’s remarks come after Brandel Chamblee suggested LIV players like Jon Rahm faced challenges at the PGA Championship, to which Leishman responded, “I would likely disagree with Brandel Chamblee… quite a lot.”

Leishman’s Outlook for the US Open

As he prepares for the US Open at Oakmont, Marc Leishman expressed confidence in his game, stating, “I definitely feel that my game is probably as good as it has ever been.”

Highlighting the unpredictability of golf, Leishman noted, “a lot of things need to align” for success in major tournaments, underscoring the game’s variable nature.

He is optimistic about contending at the US Open, hoping to utilize his positive mindset to take advantage of potential opportunities during the competition.

Australian golfer Marc Leishman has confidently refuted claims that players from the LIV Golf series are unprepared for major championships, arguing that the LIV schedule fosters strong competition and better overall performance in the sport.

Despite criticism from commentator Brandel Chamblee, Leishman maintained that the LIV format, with its distinct structure, allows for effective preparation, stressing that the excitement of shorter formats contributes positively to players’ enjoyment and performance.

As he approaches the US Open, Leishman’s optimism shines through; he believes his game is at its peak and is ready to seize the moment, emphasizing the unpredictable nature of golf and the fine line between victory and defeat.
