Lionel Messi expressed his pride in representing Argentina following a victory in a costly friendly match against Angola.
The Inter Miami forward netted the second goal after Lautaro Martinez had opened the scoring, leading Argentina to a 2-0 win over Angola’s Palancas Negras.

In a post on his official X account, Messi shared his enthusiasm for representing his country. He noted:

Messi has an impressive record with the national team, having made 196 appearances, making him the most-capped player in Argentina’s history, along with 114 goals to his name. Recently, Messi achieved 400 career assists and added to that tally by assisting Martinez’s goal just before halftime.
He added the second goal in the 82nd minute, receiving a loud cheer from the home crowd at Estádio 11 de Novembro, as if the goal had been scored by an Angolan player. This friendly marked Angola’s 50th Independence Day.

Reports indicate that Angola spent $12 million to host this friendly and have Messi play. Notably, during their last matchup, Argentina also won 2-0, a match that served as preparation for the 2006 FIFA World Cup.
