Minnie Dlamini addresses the situation following Sol Phenduka’s dismissal from Kaya FM
TV personality Minnie Dlamini has released a statement to clarify her stance after the announcement of Sol Phenduka’s exit from Kaya FM.
Phenduka, who was believed to make about R100,000 monthly, was removed from his position on the breakfast show on Monday, September 1, 2025, following public backlash regarding comments he made about Dlamini during an episode of Mac G’s Podcast and Chill.
In a report provided to News24, Dlamini made it abundantly clear that she was not involved in the decision-making process that led to the radio host’s termination.
“While I am not privy to Kaya 959’s internal decisions, I appreciate that organizations are recognizing the gravity of the disrespectful comments made,” she stated.
This clarification comes amid her ongoing legal action against Phenduka and his co-host, Mac G Mukwevho.
Dlamini is seeking damages amounting to R2.5 million, and the case is currently under review by the Equality Court, dealing with allegations of hate speech, unfair discrimination, and gender-based harassment.
In confirming Phenduka’s departure, Kaya FM emphasized its zero tolerance policy towards the language used during the podcast.
“Kaya 959 cannot and will not tolerate the remarks made on the MacG podcast, wherein Sol Phenduka has been a fundamental member of the presenting team. The misogynistic comments directed at actress Minnie Dlamini were intolerable and contrary to the respect due to women,” the station asserted.
