Mzansi questions Nadia Nakai’s prank call to Zakes Bantwini
South African rapper Nadia Nakai has ignited controversy online following a prank call made to Zakes Bantwini during a recent episode of her reality show Bragga, which upset a number of viewers.
In the latest episode, Nadia entertained herself by prank-calling various celebrities, including Zakes Bantwini and Mihlali Ndamase.
Though intended to be playful, the segment faced backlash after being shared on X (formerly Twitter) by entertainment analyst Musa Khawula.
The footage gained significant attention, provoking a variety of responses. Many followers criticized Nadia for contacting a married man, suggesting she overstepped by involving Zakes, who is married to singer Nandi Madida.
One onlooker remarked, “Why did it have to be Zakes Bantwini? Why is she that comfortable to call him? Nandi should be cautious considering Zakes answers a call from Nadia so quickly.”
Another commenter expressed, “Is Nandi a Xhosa hun? Because Nadia wouldn’t dare do that to a Xhosa wife’s husband, it would be serious trouble right there.”
Some viewers urged Nadia to keep her distance from the couple, with one stating, “Difebe tse need to stay tf away from Zakes… they want to break Nandi’s home.”
Others perceived the prank as tactless, saying, “Why Zakes Bantwini though? Why is she so relaxed talking to Zakes? Not after that post that said, ‘I bet on this marriage’ now Bragga wants to be a weapon. Distasteful.”
Yet, a number of supporters defended Nadia, arguing that the call was not significant and was being exaggerated.
One advocate commented, “You guys just had to make it awkward! Her calling Zakes does not mean anything!”
