Nasty C Reveals the Untold Inspiration Behind His Track “Head Up.” The acclaimed South African rapper Nasty C has shared insights into the deeply personal narrative that forms the foundation of his latest single, “Head Up,” which features a compelling collaboration with the renowned Soweto Gospel Choir in its updated version, “Head Up 2.0.”

The track combines introspective hip hop lyrics with inspiring gospel melodies. Initially released in late 2025, it has since gained traction, particularly following the debut of its official music video for Head Up 2.0, which has attracted a substantial viewership.

In a recent discussion, Nasty C, whose real name is Nsikayesizwe David Junior Ngcobo, disclosed an intriguing fact about the song’s development. “I made this song about five years ago, maybe six,” he reflected, adding, “Back then, it was just a chorus, and that was enough for me. It did exactly what I needed it to do at the time.”

For quite some time, the song remained incomplete. The artist from Durban acknowledged that he finalized the piece about eight months ago, allowing it to quietly exist alongside his life and career. He believes that this extensive period ultimately benefited the record.

“The time it took to finish that song really helped me,” Nasty C explained. “I went through a lot, plenty of highs and plenty of lows, and all of that gave me something real to say when it came time to write the verse.”

A simple personal hook has transformed into a complete anthem that speaks to resilience, faith, and perseverance. Featuring the globally recognized Soweto Gospel Choir, the song gains a significant spiritual aspect, elevating it into a deeply resonant piece of music.

The official music video for Head Up 2.0, directed by crvtshots and southmadeit_, effectively captures the balance between vulnerability and hope. Released recently, the video has rapidly gained traction on platforms like YouTube, resonating with audiences who connect with its themes of resilience through difficult times.

From an unfinished chorus created years ago to a refined collaboration reaching audiences nationwide and beyond, “Head Up” highlights Nasty C’s growth as an artist. It illustrates his readiness to allow time, personal experiences, and the right collaborators to evolve a good idea into something significant and enduring.
