Nota Baloyi on "American wannabe" Nasty C: "He’s lost the plot!"

  • Never one to shy away from controversy, Nota Baloyi recently shared his feelings on where Nasty C’s career is heading
  • Nota claims AKA gave Nasty “an assignment”, but believes that the rapper has gone off the rails as he imitates American gangsters
  • Surprisingly, many netizens agreed with Nota’s sentiments, while others told him to move on from criticising Nasty

Controversial media personality Nota Baloyi has shared his opinion on what he thinks of Nasty C’s career.

Nota took to X to share how he thinks the South African rapper has lost his way.

Responding to a tweet that honoured the third anniversary of Nasty’s song Lemons (Lemonade) with AKA, Nota said:

“Last time Nasty C was given an assignment, and he’s since lost the plot!”

The song was the first lead single from AKA’s album Mass Country and went on to be certified platinum in November 2022.

South Africans agree

Nota’s comments usually cause a stir online, but this time around, most fans seemed to agree with him, while others called him out for picking on Nasty.

@KhanyisaWolf replied:

“He was supposed to take this blueprint and run with it. He definitely would have been international now. Mega indirectly told him to be in this pocket. AKA always believed that Nasty could take this hip hop ish further than he could, but he is failing him now.”

@UncleTshepor added:

“He was given the SA blueprint sound, and he chose the Atlanta sound. AKA tried 💔😭”

@TheRealDolch said:

“I tried listening to the album on my way to Harties, but couldn’t get past track four. Nasty needs a new team which gives him honest feedback on music.”

@DM_KeeyRSA wrote:

“If he’s lost the plot, you wouldn’t be investing so much of your time on him, Bhuda!”

Nota Baloyi takes aim at Nasty C

It’s not the first time Nota Baloyi has attacked Nasty C.

Earlier this year, Nasty released a freestyle snippet entitled 002. Fans loved the rapper’s effortless bars and delivery, but Nota accused him of trying to emulate American gangsters.

The former music executive insulted Nasty’s appearance, saying his tattoos looked like those of an “American wannabe”.

He wrote:

“We’re now at the “did no jail time but cosplays an MS-13 gangster with prison tattoos,” stage. Still won’t make it as an American wannabe like that, and all of Zululand is thinking, he’s NOT like us, in NOTA we trust!”

Meanwhile, Nasty C continues making moves in the music industry.

The rapper released a new album, Free, on Friday, 12 September 2025, under his own record label, Tall Racks.

It’s his first release since he cut ties with multi-national record label Def Jam.

Nasty says the album, which made history on Spotify hours after its release, is an ode to his newfound freedom as an independent artist.
