Nota Baloyi has criticized DJ Shimza for not expressing grief over the death of DJ Warras, who was fatally shot in Johannesburg earlier this week.
Following the announcement of the well-known media figure’s death, social media platforms have seen an outpouring of condolences from fans, fellow artists, and other entertainment personalities.
Despite this, Nota expressed his disappointment regarding Shimza’s lack of response, suggesting that the DJ did not acknowledge someone who was significant in his professional journey.
On X, Nota called out Shimza for continuing to share unrelated posts instead of paying tribute to DJ Warras.
“Shimza tweeting about everything under the sun but won’t even post a tributary post in honour of the very DJ Warras that put him on primetime radio… There’s no friends or family in the DJ industry,” Nota wrote.
His remarks generated a vigorous discussion online, as many users defended Shimza against the criticism.
Some argued that grief is a personal matter and should not be judged by external standards.
“It is not fair for you to coerce them into posting what suits you. You have posted for your side and it really is enough,” one user responded.
Another added, “Don’t be like that. Just because he’s not tweeting or posting about him doesn’t mean he’s not hurt. People grieve differently.”

The situation is intensified by the ongoing conflict between Nota and DJ Shimza. The two have a history of legal battles, with Shimza having previously taken Nota to court months ago.
Recent reports indicate that Shimza’s attorney has seized more than R400,000 from Nota’s personal account due to statements Nota made in an exposé on eNCA involving Justice Minister Mmamoloko Kubayi.
