Penuel says he was abused by multiple women
In South Africa, podcaster and media figure Penuel Mlotshwa has opened up about his experiences with male abuse, expressing concern over the lack of reporting in such cases.
On X, Penuel described instances of physical harm and property destruction attributed to women from his past relationships, noting that he did not report these events or share them publicly at the time.
“I’ve been slapped, punched and/or kicked by 5 women in my life. And had property destroyed by 2 women. I’ve never opened a case nor spoken about it publicly. Most other men don’t either,” he tweeted.
He highlighted that this lack of dialogue has ramifications for the overall number of reported incidents where women are perpetrators of abuse against men.
Penuel noted that this gap in reporting contributes to what he calls a “lopsided” view of abuse statistics.
“This is why data on women abusing men is so low & the narrative is lopsided,” he added.
Without delving into further specifics, Penuel’s statement sheds light on the reasons many male victims remain silent, which may include stigma, doubts about their credibility, or societal expectations regarding masculinity.
