Chweneyagae, celebrated for his roles in *Tsotsi* and *The River*, passed away on May 27 at the age of 40. Acting Premier Kenetswe Mosenogi expressed condolences to his family in Mahikeng and honored his cultural legacy.

The North West Provincial Government has officially recognized Presley Chweneyagae’s contributions to the arts. Acting Premier Kenetswe Mosenogi stated, “His loss is deeply felt, but his legacy is everlasting.”

On June 3, 2025, a memorial service at the Mmabatho Convention Centre drew numerous mourners, including members from the arts community and local government, celebrating Chweneyagae’s impactful career.

Mosenogi visited the Chweneyagae family ahead of the memorial, emphasizing the importance of remembering his cultural contributions and encouraging citizens to draw inspiration from his life.
