Priddy Ugly calls out Apple Music over sound quality concerns
Rapper Priddy Ugly has expressed his concerns regarding the audio quality on Apple Music through his social media accounts.
He indicated that the service might be affecting the sound by compressing or reducing the volume of tracks.
In a series of posts, the artist articulated his displeasure: “What’s up with @AppleMusic compressing and attenuating the master?”
He pointed out that the problem extended beyond his own music.
“I’m not just talking about my music, I noticed that some albums I played sounded a bit low. I thought people had poorly mixed & mastered their music. Then I played my album from my documents folder & played it on Apple Music & the levels on the streaming platform were substantially lower.”
His remarks prompted various responses from fans, some of whom agreed that music streaming services frequently alter audio levels, while others speculated that it might be related to loudness normalization efforts that aim to equalize playback across different songs.
