The introduction of new music by Priddy Ugly during the SAMA 31 nominee livestream signifies a crucial chapter in his artistic path. Upon the release of Dust in January 2024, it was hailed as the concluding part of a trilogy that featured Soil (2021) and Mud (2022).

Within just a year of its launch, Dust received accolades as the Best Hip Hop Album at the 30th edition of the South African Music Awards. This achievement proved to be a major turning point in Priddy Ugly’s journey, solidifying the album’s status as one of the most significant local hip-hop offerings of the year.

Following this success, he shared his intentions for a deluxe edition, indicating a burst of creativity. In a recent update on Instagram, Priddy Ugly mentioned that he hadn’t been in the studio for several months. “Last time I recorded any work of my own was in March,” he disclosed. He also confirmed that some of the work from that time will make its way into his forthcoming release. “You’ll hear some of that in the deluxe that I’ll be dropping soon.”

In a recent discussion with DJ Fresh on the WAW Podcast, Priddy Ugly affirmed that the deluxe version of DUST is set to be released on September 26, 2024. He conveyed, “I got a deluxe, the deluxe version of my album Dust just to celebrate the plaques, the gold and platinum plaques. You’ll be getting snippets here and there and we got a documentary dropping very, very soon.”

With the SAMA 31 nominee announcement offering fans a sneak peek of “How We Step,” excitement is building for the deluxe version of Dust, which is anticipated to launch next month. The concise yet impactful release of this snippet implies that this deluxe edition will delve deeper into the introspective and artistic drive that characterized the original album, unveiling new collaborations and production elements that have yet to be disclosed.
