Manchester United’s interest in Benjamin Šeško is rapidly intensifying. Confidence within the club is reportedly growing, with sources at Softfootball noting an increasing belief that the 21-year-old striker prefers to join Manchester United.
This shift in sentiment follows United’s formal bid of €75 million, plus an additional €10 million in add-ons, submitted to RB Leipzig. The club has also made a direct contract proposal to the player, making significant efforts to secure one of Europe’s most promising young forwards, and the signs are looking positive.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano recently confirmed the latest updates via his official X account:
“Understand Manchester United’s feeling from earlier today is even stronger tonight… the club believes Benjamin Šeško only wants to join Manchester United. Man United has submitted an official contract proposal to Šeško while continuing negotiations with RB Leipzig.”
German journalist Florian Plettenberg echoed this sentiment, suggesting that Šeško has consistently favored a move to Old Trafford.
He tweeted from his official X account:
“There is and has always been a feeling that Benjamin Šeško would choose MUFC over all other current options! Nothing has changed in recent days. Manchester United’s offer was crucial. If RB Leipzig and Man Utd reach an agreement, it is very likely that #Sesko will join #MUFC.”
While Newcastle United has made a higher overall bid, reportedly around €90 million, sources close to the player suggest that Manchester United remains his preferred option. A so-called gentleman’s agreement between Šeško and RB Leipzig may have given United a psychological edge, even if no formal contract exists.
Šeško has been training separately from Leipzig’s first team and is believed to have informed teammates about his likely departure, further strengthening the belief that a transfer is on the horizon.
Softfootball reports that United’s offer received internal approval after discussions at Carrington confirmed that Šeško is indeed interested in joining Ruben Amorim’s project. United envisions him as a long-term solution up front, especially in light of Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Højlund’s inconsistent performances last season.

However, Leipzig is standing firm. There is no discount on any release clause, and they are not interested in a player-swap deal. They are open to selling this summer, but only on their terms.
A decision is anticipated shortly, with all parties keen to resolve matters before the Bundesliga and Premier League seasons commence.
Ultimately, Šeško’s decision may hinge on sporting vision, and Manchester United seems to be resonating well in that area. Although Newcastle’s project under Eddie Howe remains a competitor, the current momentum appears to favor a move to Old Trafford.
If the transfer is finalized, United would welcome a dynamic, intelligent, and physically imposing forward, regarded as a generational talent.
