The controversial rapper Shebeshxt is once again a topic of discussion on social media, following reports suggesting he may be required to repay over R2 million from canceled bookings.
This situation arises as his bail hearing was delayed at the Polokwane magistrate’s court, resulting in his continued detention amid a peak season for entertainment events.
The Limpopo artist had several high-profile performances lined up for December. However, with his next bail hearing not scheduled until January 19, event promoters have been forced to cancel his scheduled appearances.
Sources from the industry indicate that some organizers have already begun asking for refunds, while others have expressed their grievances on social media about the financial impact and the confusion stemming from the rapid changes.
The responses online have varied, with some expressing anger and others showing empathy.
One social media user remarked, “Promoters must be crying. December losses are no joke.”
Another user criticized the broader trend, writing, “This thing of booking artists with ongoing cases always ends in tears. We warned them.”
Conversely, there were those who expressed support for Shebeshxt, with a commenter noting, “Whether you like him or not, Shebe is going through a lot. Hope justice takes its course.”
Fans eager to see the rapper live also voiced their disappointment.
“We were ready for his set this weekend. Now everything is cancelled. Yoh! December ruined,” lamented one user.
As of now, Shebeshxt’s management has not released an official comment regarding the refund requests or the event cancellations.
The rapper is expected to remain in custody until he appears in court again on January 19, where his legal team will continue their efforts to secure his bail.
