Limpopo rapper Shebeshxt is facing new charges while in police custody, following the discovery of illicit items during a search by correctional officers.
Reports indicate that the musician, whose real name is Lehlogonolo “Shebeshxt” Chauke, was charged on Tuesday after officials at the Polokwane Holding Cells reportedly found a cell phone, used sachets with traces of an unknown substance, and a pipe typically used for drug consumption in his cell.
This finding occurred while he was awaiting his upcoming court session.
The recent developments come as Shebeshxt remains incarcerated, following the Polokwane High Court’s decision to refuse him bail.
In December 2025, Judge Natalie Burnet reaffirmed a prior ruling by Senior Magistrate Godfrey Netshiozwi, which kept the artist detained as legal proceedings continue.
He is scheduled to appear again at the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court on 17 February 2026.
The news regarding the discovered contraband spread rapidly on social media, eliciting intense reactions from users.
Many voiced worries that this additional charge could further jeopardize his chances for release, while others believed it negatively impacted his legal situation.
The incident was initially reported on Tuesday, 10 February 2026, by entertainment and news blogger Limpopo Chronicle, informing the public that Shebeshxt had been charged while still in custody.
Authorities have not yet provided an official statement regarding the new charge, which adds more controversy to the rapper’s ongoing legal challenges.
