The South African media personality Sol Phenduka has commented on a drug seizure that took place on Friday, October 3, 2025.
A foreign national was arrested while driving from Johannesburg to Cape Town. Sol Phenduka has implicated politicians in this troubling incident.
Response to the R19 million drug bust
As reported by @MDNnewss, a Nigerian truck driver was apprehended while transporting R19 million worth of drugs. The arrest took place near the Huguenot Tunnel, in the vicinity of Cape Town.
The 44-year-old foreign individual was detained after law enforcement executed a raid on his vehicle.
“Authorities said the vehicle, which had travelled from Johannesburg to Cape Town, was stopped during a joint operation by the Paarl Highway Patrol, Boland K9 Unit, and Provincial Traffic officers. A search of the truck uncovered 55.8 kg of tik and 30.5 kg of cocaine, with a combined street value of nearly R19 million,” the X blog reported.
The driver is set to appear in the Paarl Magistrates’ Court, facing serious drug trafficking charges. “Police have hailed the bust as a major blow to drug trafficking networks operating between Gauteng and the Western Cape.”
Phenduka has expressed his belief that politicians are complicit in these issues. In his remarks on X, he stated, “Sad. The politicians are involved in this evil.”
Recently, another foreign national was arrested in Mpumalanga during a raid on a R350 million meth lab. South Africans are looking to assign blame.
