- Like Sol, the supporters of the duo are distraught over their separation, hoping they can reconcile
Sol Phenduka provided his insights on the unforeseen breakup of Murumba Pitch members Thabang Innocent Mangolo and Emmanuel Nanga Mathye.
The duo announced their joint decision to end their partnership both artistically and contractually in a statement released on 7 March 2025, a revelation that surprised fans and colleagues, including Sol Phenduka.
On his social media account, the former Kaya 959 host articulated how the breakup has been challenging for everyone involved. He shared that both musicians continue to use the Murumba Pitch title as solo artists:
“The dudes have split and are both continuing with the name, but as solo artists. The vocalist, who people actually identify as Murumba Pitch, is about to drop a project, but the previous partner has already dropped his project under the same name. All the songs are three-step, no piano, no Murumba Pitch on the vocals.”
Sol further informed in a post on Twitter (X) dated 6 September that the Spotify account of the former duo seems to now be managed by the vocalist, Innocent.
The artist appears to have not only modified the banner images but has also changed the profile description to credit solely himself while omitting any mention of his partner, hinting at potential underlying conflicts that might have contributed to their separation.
Reactions from fans
Supporters of the group stood up for the producer, Emmanuel, asserting that he was the original creator of the group and rightfully entitled to the name. Here are some of the reactions:
calvinhalata4 commented:
“The real Murumba Pitch is not the vocalist, but the guy behind the desk. He started this group long ago, around 2013. They used to perform like Black Motion back then, but things changed when he hired the vocalist.”
PsNengovhela stated:
“But the group MURUMBA PITCH was started by the Mathe with some guys in Venda. They used to perform in bottle stores and taverns around there. I don’t see how the vocalist should also continue using the name unless that was their legal agreement.”
jabulanidvd remarked:
“Emmanuel had Murumba since secondary school days in Venda.”
LooH_DA_wALKER pointed out:
“The funny part is that the guy people know as Murumba Pitch was added in the group later. The guy people don’t know, Mathye, is the real Murumba Pitch.”

Conversely, some users provided suggestions to potentially assist the artists:
Edd_Everything advised:
“They should just rename their brand to Murumba Pitch Spotify and Murumba Pitch Apple Music. They are both childish, mxm.”
sevenglocks humorously suggested:
“The one who does beats should be Murumba, and the one who does vocals should be Pitch.”
iamTVMI proposed:
“Maybe they could use their own names and list Marimba Pitch as the primary artist on future projects. That way, they both benefit from the audience they have as Marumba Pitch.”
MotsatsiRo commented:
“It would have been better if they called themselves Murumba Pitch Thabang and Murumba Pitch Nanga.”
