Sol Phenduka’s reflections on Charlie Kirk’s assassination
In a segment of Podcast and Chill that aired on Monday, 15 September 2025, Phenduka discussed the implications of Charlie Kirk’s death. Comedian Mpho Popps filled in for the absent MacG.
Phenduka, who is known for his candid style and has experienced professional setbacks due to comments made on Podcast and Chill, pointed out the contradictions surrounding Kirk’s assassination, particularly considering Kirk’s strong advocacy for gun rights.
While recognizing the irony of Kirk’s situation, having previously supported firearm ownership, Phenduka firmly stated that he did not approve of the shooting. He has also faced backlash for previous remarks on the show, demonstrating a clear awareness of the complexities involved.
“I’m not celebrating his death, but I do acknowledge the poetic-ness of, you know, him saying, ‘A few murders is fine, but people need to keep guns,’ and then he goes out that way. I do acknowledge that, but I don’t think he’s deserving. You can’t just be killed for your views, bro. As a podcaster, it would be silly to say, nah, yeah, he deserved the truth. We sit here, and people disagree. Somebody is disagreeing with my view now,” Phenduka said.
