The announcement was made via a social media post, where Tony Dayimane offered a glimpse of the tracklist for the project, which includes the emotional track “9 Missed Calls” featuring Thathohatsi. When a fan inquired about the release date, Tony confirmed it and shared details about the artistic vision behind the EP.
In his statement, Tony described Girls & MP3’s as a series of love songs filled with authentic emotions. He mentioned that the four tracks resonate with the same emotional depth as “9 Missed Calls,” conveying experiences of happiness, heartbreak, yearning, and reflection.
“Girls & MP3’s it’s just love songs, ngiyayikhalela. Songs I made ngijabule, ngikhungathekile and ngizisola,” he stated. He also indicated that releasing it just before Valentine’s Day felt highly appropriate, saying, “WHAT A TIMEEEEE!”

The EP is set to be released under Big Boy Records, with distribution managed by MODAR / EMPIRE. It will include five songs, all produced in lossless audio quality, making it a concise yet impactful release that encourages repeated listening.
Additionally, Tony is promoting “9 Missed Calls” as a significant single leading up to the EP’s debut. This track, which has garnered attention online, reflects the core themes of the project—romantic conflict, complex emotions, and vulnerability. Its status as the only publicly released track from the EP’s tracklist signifies that Tony is building anticipation before sharing the rest of the songs.
While there is speculation around the possibility of a full album in the future, Tony’s current emphasis seems to be on Girls & MP3’s and the heartfelt narratives it encompasses. The timing of this release, coinciding with the Valentine’s season, is a strategic move appealing to fans of love-themed music.
