UEFA has announced the latest Champions League Team of the Week, following an eventful Matchday 6 that offered fans plenty of action, dramatic comebacks, and significant moments throughout the matches.
Softfootball notes that this all-star lineup, selected by the UEFA Technical Observer Group, features players from 11 different clubs, highlighting the depth of talent in this season’s competition.

As the league phase approaches its climax in January, each standout performance carries increased significance. Some teams are striving for early advancement, while others are clinging to their hopes for survival. The Team of the Week announcement was made by UEFA through their official X account.
They shared:
On the defensive end, Unai Simón from Athletic Club earned recognition for his impressive performance, holding PSG to a scoreless draw. His 1.77 “goals prevented” statistic encapsulates his effectiveness.
Jules Koundé from Barcelona also made headlines with two headed goals and a significant defensive contribution in their comeback win against Eintracht Frankfurt, marking a historic feat as the first defender from Barça to achieve this in a single UCL match.
Rounding out the defense are Atlético’s Dávid Hancko and Mohammed Salisu from Monaco, both of whom displayed a mix of poise and crucial contributions that aided their teams in securing results.
The midfield was fiercely contested this week. Nico O’Reilly of Manchester City achieved his inaugural Champions League goal while effectively silencing Real Madrid’s offense.

Richard Ríos from Benfica showcased his versatility with a goal, an assist, and relentless pressing efforts against Napoli. Atalanta’s Charles De Ketelaere continued his strong performances with a goal and assist against Chelsea, while Bayern’s teenage prospect Lennart Karl scored and had another attempt disallowed.
In the forward positions, Arsenal’s Noni Madueke notably stood out, scoring two goals in their 3-0 victory at Club Brugge and earning the UEFA player of the week award. Mason Greenwood from Marseille contributed to all three of his team’s goals against Union Saint-Gilloise, and Newcastle’s Anthony Gordon netted a goal along with an assist during a spirited 2-2 draw at Leverkusen.
With only two matchdays remaining, the stakes are increasing, and if this week is any indication, there will be more exciting developments ahead.
