A woman’s voice serves as a powerful instrument for inspiration and change, providing an opportunity for her to express herself and motivate others, triggering movements that impact families, communities, and generations. This sentiment resonated deeply among the six mentors who joined together to evaluate over 500 entries from women eager to be heard.
The Voices of Her mentorship programme, organized by the Betway Cares Foundation, underscores this strength by establishing a platform that fosters, mentors, and highlights female talent. After a nationwide call for submissions and a comprehensive evaluation process, the Top 12 finalists have been selected, hailing from all nine provinces and gearing up for the next chapter in this transformative experience, the mentorship phase.
With six mentors guiding the way, the programme aims to identify and cultivate untapped talent, steering it toward sustainable careers. Each finalist will embark on a transformative journey that merges creativity, education, and the empowerment of women.
This growth initiative spans five weeks of online learning followed by two weeks of in-person mentorship in Johannesburg. Finalists will engage in training conducted by experts, covering vital aspects of launching a music career. Training will address vocal performance, songwriting, personal branding, financial understanding, and career planning, equipping participants with the creative and practical tools necessary for success.
Lead mentors Bucie Nqwiliso and Nomfundo Xaluva-Dyantyis bring recognized artistry and invaluable industry insight, while gospel singer HLE enhances stage presence and assurance. Veteran in the field, Margaret Motsage, focuses on vocal skills, and creative director Bonnie Meslane aids finalists in identifying their unique artistic identities. Financial advisor Adele Barnard and music industry entrepreneur Ninel Lara Musson provide essential guidance on financial planning and the development of sustainable music careers.
“For me, mentorship is about lighting the path for someone else and helping women step into their purpose with confidence and truth. This is something I’ve always wanted to do because, growing up in this industry, I wished I had received it. I’m grateful to BW Cares for making me fulfill young Buice’s dream,” says Bucie Nqwiliso, Lead Mentor for Voices of Her.
responsibility to open doors and share what we’ve learned. This programme is about giving young artists the tools to build their own sustainable journeys,” adds Nomfundo Xaluva-Dyantyis, Lead Mentor who joined the judging process virtually.
This mentorship is purposeful. Each mentor serves as a role model, having navigated their own path, and now aims to empower the rising generation of female voices in South Africa.
“Voices of Her is about more than creating music; it’s about restoring dignity, expanding access, and empowering women to build legacies that last,” says Bakang Lethoko, Head of the Betway Cares Foundation. “When women are given the right tools and support, they don’t just transform their own lives, they elevate families, communities, and entire industries.”
Join the movement and witness the rise of South Africa’s next generation of female voices.
