Apple Music has announced that South African DJ and internationally recognized producer Vigro Deep is the latest Isgubhu featured artist, highlighting his significant role in the global rise of Amapiano music. This news coincides with the launch of his exclusive Isgubhu DJ Mix, which honors the influences and sounds that have defined his career and pays tribute to the legacy of his acclaimed Baby Boy album series.

Born as Kamogelo Phetla in Atteridgeville, Pretoria, Vigro Deep has emerged as a prominent figure in African electronic music. He is acclaimed for his powerful log drums, cinematic soundscapes, and innovative production style that has consistently redefined Amapiano’s musical landscape. His Baby Boy series, which began when he was merely 17, has become a significant part of his artistic identity, culminating in the recent release of Baby Boy V.
In discussing the inspiration for his mix, Vigro Deep shared with Apple Music that the project serves as both a tribute and a conclusion.
“My mix was a tribute to the artists who have played a role in my journey as well as new artists who I find inspiring for pushing their own sounds,” he stated. “It is also a celebration for the end of the Baby Boy chapter… this mix captures all of that for me.”
With a musical upbringing influenced by his father, DJ Spring of The Godfathers of Deep House SA, Vigro Deep initially aimed to become a rapper before discovering his talent for music production. Since then, he has created an impressive body of work that includes hits like “Black Power,” “Untold Stories,” “Blue Monday,” and “A-Z Yash Imoto.” His work on projects like the Scorpion Kings album further solidifies his status in the music industry.
