All Blacks Lose Star Wallace Sititi to Ankle Surgery Ahead of France Series

The All Blacks announced that 22-year-old loose forward Wallace Sititi will undergo ankle surgery, sidelining him for July’s three-Test series against France. Last year’s World Rugby Breakthrough Player will be replaced by uncapped Christian Lio-Willie, while Dalton Papali’i joins the squad. The series begins in Dunedin on July 5.

Wallace Sititi’s Injury Impact

Loose forward Wallace Sititi will undergo surgery for an ankle injury, sidelining him for New Zealand’s three-Test series against France in July. The surgery is reportedly to address significant damage.

At 22, Sititi was recently recognized as World Rugby’s Breakthrough Player of the Year. His absence will be felt as he has established himself as a key player in the squad.

The All Blacks stated, “Wallace will be missed during the upcoming matches, but we are confident in our squad’s depth and capability to field a competitive team.”

Squad Adjustments Ahead of France Tests

Christian Lio-Willie has been named as Sititi’s replacement, even though he has yet to earn a test cap. He was initially included as cover for Luke Jacobson due to his injury.

In addition to Lio-Willie’s inclusion, Dalton Papali’i has been called up to strengthen the roster as the openside flanker, ensuring the team maintains its competitive edge.

The All Blacks will open the series against France in Dunedin on July 5, with subsequent matches scheduled for Wellington and Hamilton. The team is aiming for a strong performance.

The All Blacks face a setback with Wallace Sititi’s ankle surgery, sidelining him for the France series. Christian Lio-Willie steps in, while Dalton Papali’i joins as injury cover, as New Zealand prepares for the July Tests.
