Recent discussions regarding André Onana have intensified, with some sources indicating that the goalkeeper might move to West Ham on loan. However, according to Softfootball, there are no developments supporting this notion at the moment.
Since his transfer from Inter Milan two years ago, Onana’s tenure in England has encountered various challenges—initially marked by uncertainty, followed by standout performances in significant matches, leading to a more settled role as Manchester United’s primary goalkeeper.
The Cameroonian keeper has faced criticism but has demonstrated composure in goal and proficiency in ball distribution, establishing himself as an essential player for the team. Manager Ruben Amorim is relying on him to solidify the defense this season, and parting with him now would not be advantageous for Manchester United.

Transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano provided an update on Onana’s situation through his X handle, stating:
Sources playing down reports on André Onana joining West Ham on loan from Manchester United. No talks.
Senne Lammens’ potential arrival at #MUFC (still in negotiations) doesn’t mean Onana leaves this summer.
This insight clarifies the situation. While West Ham may wish to enhance their goalkeeping options, it appears that Onana is not in the mix for such a transfer. Manchester United’s interest in Senne Lammens is aimed at bolstering depth and competition rather than replacing their primary goalkeeper.
Onana has also recently returned to full fitness and was included in the squad against Fulham after a spell out during pre-season. His current objective is to sharpen his skills and demonstrate why he has been deemed the club’s first-choice goalkeeper.
Allowing Onana to depart at this juncture could not only create a substantial gap in the squad but also potentially disrupt Amorim’s strategic plans for the season.
