Tebogo Thobejane reacts after women crush on her murder-accused former boyfriend<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Tebogo Thobejane has responded after witnessing women express admiration for her ex-boyfriend, Vusimuzi \u201cCat\u201d Matlala, during his recent testimony before Parliament\u2019s ad hoc committee.<\/p>\n

Currently incarcerated at Kgosi Mampuru II Correctional Centre, Matlala is awaiting trial on charges related to an alleged plot against Tebogo\u2019s life, yet his appearance sparked a surprising amount of social media affection.<\/p>\n

Online, many shared videos and images of Matlala, with several women captivated by his appearance and demeanor.<\/p>\n

This attention did not sit well with Tebogo, who took to her Instagram account on December 2, 2025, to voice her concerns and skepticism regarding the sudden influx of admiration.<\/p>\n

In her Instagram stories, she suggested that the public’s enthusiasm for Matlala seemed orchestrated.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy intuition is loud: something here doesn\u2019t add up. When the whole nation suddenly \u2018loves\u2019 someone they once feared, it usually means the narrative is being managed behind the scenes,\u201d she remarked.<\/p>\n

Tebogo pointed to the possibility that this newfound public affection is strategically aimed at improving Matlala\u2019s image.<\/p>\n

She expressed her surprise at the rapid change in public sentiment, stating: \u201cHave you ever noticed how blogs suddenly start hyping someone, and how the tone of the whole country shifts overnight? We as a nation get captured so easily. We forget the real crimes, the people who were hurt, and the lives that were lost. We let power rewrite the truth right in front of us.\u201d<\/p>\n

Highlighting concerns about narrative manipulation, she conveyed her frustration over the public’s passive acceptance of these shifts.<\/p>\n

\u201cMany of us have experienced how quickly a narrative can be twisted to protect the right people. And honestly, we\u2019re shocked that we as South Africans don\u2019t see what\u2019s happening. We watch the story being rewritten in real time, and somehow, we accept it.\u201d<\/p>\n

In another post, Tebogo emphasized that no amount of online admiration could overshadow her lived experience.<\/p>\n

She reminded her audience that behind the viral videos and comments lies a painful reality.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s easy to laugh and move on, but real crimes happened, and real people suffered. PR can clean an image, but it can\u2019t fix what was destroyed. At the end of the day, prayer is the only thing we have, because God sees everything,\u201d she concluded.<\/p>\n
