Da LES Discusses the Factors Behind His Stroke. South African rapper Da LES has shared insights into the ischemic stroke he experienced in July 2024.<\/strong><\/p>\n

During his appearance on the L-Tido Podcast, the artist, known as the North god, conveyed that ongoing stress and a lifestyle centered around partying contributed significantly to his health emergency. The stroke impacted the left side of his body, leading to a recovery process that he claims has altered his perspective.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was definitely stress. I was hiding a lot of stress from everybody. I had a lot of pressure. But just to be real, it was a lot of partying. All I could ever do since I got into the industry was making music and partying because my character it goes with partying,\u201d<\/em> Da LES stated.<\/p>\n

\u201cLet me say this, it wasn\u2019t the drugs. It was the stress. Look at Lira, see what she\u2019s going through. It just happens to one of us. But the drugs were just a catalyst. I apologised to everybody, and I\u2019m back, and I want to go out to high schools and have a word with them. Maybe just tell the kids, some motivation.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

The rapper elaborated on how a series of personal losses and increasing professional responsibilities accumulated, leading him to a lifestyle of self-medication and excessive partying, which he now recognizes as a means of coping with underlying issues.<\/p>\n

When prompted about the sources of his stress, Da LES cited personal tragedies. \u201cMy pops passed away, AKA passed away, Ricky Riky passed away, Nathan passed away, and these were very close people, and they passed away in a year\u2019s span. And for me, I was just like, I need to get off it and let me just make my music and go about my business with all the craziness (taking drugs) to numb the pain away. But I feel bad in a way. I feel bad for my mom. But now I\u2019m back.\u201d<\/em> He expressed.<\/p>\n
