Softfootball had previously reported on Salah’s recent remarks, where he expressed feeling mistreated. Gerrard suggested that while Salah’s sentiments are valid, the phrasing could be improved. He stated,

He’s obviously really upset he’s not playing which I respect. He wants to help the team, I respect. Couple of lines about throwing people under the bus is wrong. Need to reverse a little bit away from that, he needs to deal with that with the manager. This needs Virgil Van Dijk to go “how we sorting this out?”

Gerrard urged Virgil van Dijk to intervene and assist in resolving the matter. Ferdinand echoed this sentiment, agreeing that van Dijk’s involvement could benefit not just Salah, but also the supporters and the club as a whole. He remarked,

I think Virgil Van Dijk can be somebody that can play a role in this situation. He can be the go between the manager and the people upstairs and Mo Salah. He can be sitting there talking to his teammate and say listen man, just tell me how you feel and what’s the problem? And I’m going to go and speak to the guys. I think you’ve said enough now, I think this is where the captains got to stand in and really take hold of the situation.

Liverpool’s head coach, Arne Slot, also highlighted the importance of communication in the ongoing situation, indicating that the relationship between himself and Salah remains intact and respectful.

Ultimately, all three individuals agree on one point: the matter requires thoughtful management.

Salah’s frustrations are justifiable. However, through the guidance of experienced players like Virgil van Dijk and open dialogue with the coach, the underlying tensions can be alleviated swiftly.

Everyone involved seeks the best for Liverpool, and with the right approach, these challenges can be navigated effectively, paving the way for a unified team moving forward.
