A tweet from South African comedian Trevor Noah dating back to 2012 has come into focus again, igniting fresh controversy shortly after he made pointed comments regarding US President Donald Trump and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.<\/p>\n

The criticism follows Noah’s recent hosting of the Grammy Awards, marking his sixth and final time in the role.<\/p>\n

During his monologue, Noah made comments that linked Trump to Epstein, igniting a response from the former president\u2019s team, which reportedly included threats of legal action.<\/p>\n

As reactions grew, users on social media began to revisit Noah’s older tweets, unearthing a controversial post from 2012 that quickly gained traction due to its sensitive content.<\/p>\n

The tweet stated: \u201cPeople who have children should be arrested for tempting child molesters\u201d.<\/p>\n

This message, which has been circulated widely without its original context, has elicited strong responses.<\/p>\n

At the time of the tweet, it was part of a satirical series that used the hashtag #Swazirules, aimed at mocking a contentious viewpoint from authorities in Swaziland, now called eSwatini.<\/p>\n

Authorities had issued threats to arrest women for donning \u201crevealing\u201d attire like miniskirts, claiming it could incite men to commit rape.<\/p>\n

Noah expanded on the satire with similar statements, such as: \u201cArrest people with nice things for provoking robbers!\u201d and \u201cIf someone steps on your foot, apologise for putting your foot underneath theirs\u201d.<\/p>\n

Despite the intended humor, the resurrected tweet about minors has sparked heated discussion online.<\/p>\n

While some individuals criticized Noah for his apparent lack of foresight, others defended him, suggesting that the original joke was an attempt to highlight the absurdity of narratives that blame victims.<\/p>\n

One user on X expressed outrage, questioning: \u201cAre you a pedophile? @Trevornoah\u201d.<\/p>\n

Conversely, another user defended Noah, stating: \u201cTo the contrary. This was in response to the Eswatini government telling girls not to wear short dresses to avoid \u2018tempting\u2019 men. Here is the thread of tweets that he posted under that hashtag. Context is everything.\u201d<\/p>\n
