In a revealing conversation with Nyasha Michelle<\/strong>, the noted rapper shared that attending church has transformed into a challenging experience for him. He indicated that his presence, rather than blending into the worship environment, often diverts attention from the collective spirituality of the gathering to the person in the spotlight.<\/p>\n

\u201cI can\u2019t go to church, and that sucks,\u201d<\/em> Nasty C remarked. \u201cBecause of how I feel when I\u2019m in church.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

The rapper emphasized that his concerns are not rooted in religious beliefs but arise from the way fellow worshippers respond upon recognizing him. He expressed discomfort at the glances and discreet attempts to capture his image, which detract from the focus on worship and prayer.<\/p>\n

\u201cI end up feeling like the devil because everyone is turning around looking at me instead of praying,\u201d<\/em> he explained. \u201cPeople are not really praying,\u201d <\/em>he continued. \u201cPeople are just rushing for this thing to end so they can come swing me for pictures. That\u2019s weird. I don\u2019t think that should happen in that environment.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

For the artist from Durban, the church represents a space for contemplation and sanctity, and he finds that the attention he attracts disrupts this intended function. Consequently, he has reluctantly chosen to refrain from attending, even though he feels a deep sense of loss. \u201cThat\u2019s why I can\u2019t go to church anymore,\u201d<\/em> he concluded.<\/p>\n
