Following Manchester City\u2019s 3\u20131 FA Cup win over Newcastle United on March 7, 2026, John Stones shared his thoughts on the challenges faced during his return to competitive football after a lengthy injury absence.<\/p>\n

The defender acknowledged that coming back to elite football post-injury has been a test, particularly in a high-energy venue like St James\u2019 Park.<\/p>\n

In a post-match discussion, as reported by Sportslivy via youtube channel<\/a>, Stones remarked:<\/p>\n

Passing you and getting your second start, how difficult has this season been for you and how much did you enjoy being back out there, John?<\/p>\n

John Stones:
\n\u201cStart of the season was great and then I picked up an injury, got re-injured, and it\u2019s been tough to get back in the team and get that rhythm again. But it\u2019s just nice to be out there, nice to be playing and contributing, and getting that rhythm back.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s massive, especially in the first 20 minutes. Here it\u2019s always difficult the pace, the power. Obviously we keep a high line and they figured it out in a few instances.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s about getting back into it and having that positivity so that when you\u2019re called upon, you\u2019re ready. I think we did that tonight with all the lads.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
