A key player in the regional entertainment landscape, Thapelo Mokoena is making his return to the acclaimed Netflix series, Fatal Seduction<\/em>, which unveiled its third season this past Friday.<\/p>\n

Mokoena took the time to stop by the 947 FM studios for a conversation with Thando Thabethe and Msizi James, with the trio concluding their discussion on the topic of filming intimate scenes as performers.<\/p>\n

The show’s title gives a clear indication of its content, but for those needing clarification, it brings a hot and steamy essence, implying that actors must feel at ease when filming intimate moments.<\/p>\n

\u2018Fatal Seduction\u2019 is a sexy series<\/h2>\n

\u201cThis is my question, I was talking to Thando about it \u2026 is the intimate scenes. Obviously, Fatal Seduction<\/em>, it\u2019s in the name already, there\u2019s going to be a lot of intimate scenes in that show,\u201d James asked.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd they will be fatal,\u201d Mokoena added.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy question was to her, when you are actors, \u2018How does it all work\u2026 for your partners? Do you sit and watch this with your wife or your partner? How do they feel when you come home after shooting this? I don\u2019t know how I would feel if my partner was Thando, for example, told me \u2018I\u2019m going to shoot a season of Fatal Seduction with Thapelo Mokoena\u2019,\u201d James asked, much to Thabethe\u2019s and Mokoena\u2019s amusement.<\/p>\n

\u201cEarlier, I spoke about understanding the 360 value chain of whatever you\u2019re about in life. I think it\u2019s key. If you\u2019re a chef, understand the 360 value chain and see it from all angles. The same in this trade of ours\u2026 It is seriously a profession. My wife met me as an actor; I was coming out of film school. She met me doing what I do, she bought into what I do, and who I am and what I\u2019m about. Luckily, I\u2019ve never given her grey hairs or reasons to not trust in what I do and how I do what I do\u2026\u201d Mokoena said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThapelo, I think what he\u2019s asking is, do you tell your wife\u2026 we know when we have a sex scene coming up. And we\u2019ve rehearsed it\u2026 It\u2019s like a dance. You literally say, \u2018Okay, first Thapelo is gonna pick you up\u2026\u201d Thabethe interjected.<\/p>\n

The role of the intimacy co-ordinator on set<\/h3>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s an intimacy co-ordinator who\u2019s there to choreograph,\u201d Mokoena said.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo it\u2019s not like a free-for-all [where] they say \u2018Okay, make out, go,\u201d asked James.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo,\u201d Thabethe responded.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt used to be that way in the industry. You\u2019d walk on set, and they say, \u2018Okay, you guys love each other, and you haven\u2019t seen her in three months, and you\u2019re back from the mines. Action,\u201d Mokoena added.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe knew before getting onto set what we have to communicate for what the scene needs. But we also understand as artists and as actors, with understanding intimacy co-ordinating and intimacy itself, that every day is not the same. So I could walk on set today feeling like I don\u2019t really feel like being touched, and that\u2019s reason enough to not shoot that scene that day,\u201d Mokoena said.<\/p>\n
