Priddy Ugly speaks on Hip Hop<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

South African rapper Priddy Ugly has sparked renewed discussion regarding the challenges facing local hip hop, stressing that internal conflicts are among the primary obstacles hindering the genre’s growth.<\/p>\n

In a recent discussion, the seasoned artist highlighted that the problems lie within the culture itself rather than in external competition.<\/p>\n

He expressed that inflated egos and a deficiency of solidarity are contributing to fractures within the industry that seem to be expanding.<\/p>\n

\u201cToo many egos in the game,\u201d he said. \u201cSo if there\u2019s anything that\u2019s actually killing SA hip hop, it\u2019s the egos and the lack of unity.\u201d<\/p>\n

He described a landscape where artists are increasingly shying away from one another instead of collaborating. Personal disputes and existing rivalries, he noted, have hindered creatives from sharing spaces.<\/p>\n

At times, artists prefer to avoid public appearances rather than risk encountering rivals like Blxckie.<\/p>\n

\u201cGuys are not coming out anymore because they have beef with someone\u2026 or they know they\u2019re gonna bump into the people they are beefing with,\u201d he shared.<\/p>\n

This growing separation, he argues, is diminishing opportunities for valuable collaborations and stunting the genre’s progress.<\/p>\n

Instead of airing grievances publicly, Priddy Ugly advocates for artists to concentrate that energy into their music.<\/p>\n

\u201cStop talking sht so much. Get in the studio, talk that sht in the studio. Let\u2019s collaborate, let\u2019s make more music.\u201d<\/p>\n

Despite his critical observations, he remains optimistic about the future of South African hip hop.<\/p>\n

He believes that the genre is experiencing growth and has not yet achieved its maximum potential.<\/p>\n

\u201cHip hop is alive and well. I feel like it\u2019s still growing\u2026 we need to allow it time to grow.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
