USA-based producer and DJ Mpiloz has criticized what he calls \u201cgatekeeping\u201d in the music industry as he experiences a difficult \u201cdry season\u201d for bookings while continuing to work on new music and pursue global opportunities.<\/p>\n

The artist, known as Philani Manyoni and hailing from Estcourt, recently released his new single, Imbewu \u2014 a track rich in symbolism that focuses on the concept of \u201ctomorrow\u201d and the impact of today’s choices.<\/p>\n

Despite gaining recognition on an international scale, DJ Mpiloz claims he has encountered hurdles in his home country.<\/p>\n

\u201cA few years ago, I launched my annual DJ Mpiloz Music Festival. It was doing very well until political influencers tried to overtake my project and began sabotaging me,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey blocked me from hosting it, even when I was funding it myself. They even organised events on the same dates I had booked. But by God\u2019s grace, I am still standing.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to the artist, Imbewu represents more than just a musical piece \u2014 it conveys a significant message.<\/p>\n

The title, meaning \u201cseed,\u201d encapsulates the idea that one’s actions today shape the future. Mpiloz believes the song acts as both a caution and a reflection aimed at those he feels have hindered his advancement.<\/p>\n

The single features collaborative efforts with Portia Alive and Tebza De DJ, merging elements of 3-Step and Afro House into a sound that is both heartfelt and technically sophisticated.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen we were creating the song, it was challenging because the vocalist comes from a gospel background. Transitioning her into Afro House and 3-Step took time, but we created something special,\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n

Musically, Imbewu avoids redundancy, instead progressing through various shifts in mood, pace, and theme \u2014 all carefully aligned with the song\u2019s central message.<\/p>\n

Despite facing these obstacles, DJ Mpiloz expresses optimism about entering a new phase of growth.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a season of expansion for me, not just as a musician, but as a businessman. The timing is perfect,\u201d he remarked.<\/p>\n

He has been invited to present at the Deep in the Underground music summit in North London in May, followed by a significant performance in the United States during a 2026 World Cup Watch Party in June.<\/p>\n

Additionally, he is slated to perform later this year in Ibiza, Spain, at an event organized by Afrolicious Mumma \u2014 marking another step in solidifying his increasing international presence.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
