Esteemed DJ, producer, and businessman Oskido<\/a> has conveyed his appreciation after being awarded one of South Africa’s most esteemed civilian accolades.<\/p>\n

The innovator in kwaito music recently took to social media to share his thoughts about being granted the Order of Ikhamanga in Silver, a distinction presented by President Cyril Ramaphosa during the National Orders Investiture Ceremony on May 19, 2026.<\/p>\n

Over a week after this significant recognition, Oskido revisited social media to express his thanks to those who have supported him throughout his journey.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo God be the glory. 🙏🏽 Thank you for walking this journey with me. This honour belongs to all of us,\u201d he wrote.<\/p>\n

This award acknowledges his substantial influence on South African music and his efforts in paving the way for emerging artists throughout the years.<\/p>\n

The formal citation states that Oskido was recognised for \u201ccreating opportunities for young musicians as an extension of his own success as a DJ, record producer, entrepreneur and kwaito pioneer.\u201d<\/p>\n

Considered a key figure in the evolution of contemporary South African music, Oskido significantly contributed to the kwaito movement and has been instrumental in mentoring new talent through his label, Kalawa Jazmee Records.<\/p>\n

This influential entity has been pivotal in launching the careers of various artists, such as Mafikizolo, Boom Shaka, and Black Coffee.<\/p>\n

After the ceremony, Oskido noted that this accolade was not just his to claim, dedicating it to fellow pioneers who played vital roles in establishing the kwaito genre and shaping South Africa\u2019s music scene.<\/p>\n
