South African singer-songwriter Rowlene has revealed the emotional toll of an ongoing payment dispute related to a performance from October of the previous year, which she claims has yet to be compensated.In a heartfelt video shared on Instagram, the singer was visibly upset as she described the frustration of enduring months of unproductive efforts to settle the issue privately.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you knew me, you would know that I don\u2019t usually do this, but I\u2019m out of options,\u201d she expressed.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m at a position where I\u2019m starting to question if my business model is all messed up, or if people just generally don\u2019t grasp how their indecency affects other people.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rowlene mentioned that despite having honored her contractual obligations, she has not received any payment for the work she completed last October.<\/p>\n

She indicated that she had attempted to reach a resolution by proposing a lower fee along with a payment plan.<\/p>\n

\u201cI tried to work out a payment plan. I even said they don\u2019t have to pay me the full amount because I know I didn\u2019t sell all the tickets,\u201d she commented. \u201cIt just feels so disrespectful.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rowlene also disclosed that legal help has become necessary, emphasizing how the situation is financially and emotionally draining.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy lawyer is handling it, but now it\u2019s money that I don\u2019t have that I\u2019m going to have to use to get back money that I worked hard for,\u201d she stated. \u201cPlease tell me what I\u2019m supposed to do.\u201d<\/p>\n

In her accompanying post, Rowlene elaborated on the personal impact of the situation, reflecting on her ten-year journey in the music industry and the toll this dispute has taken on her self-esteem.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs someone who wakes up at 5 am in the morning to make sure I\u2019ve checked all the boxes, as someone who\u2019s done this for 10 years, I still feel like I failed myself over something that\u2019s beyond my control,\u201d she wrote.<\/p>\n

She further pointed out the significant obstacles that artists face, especially those who are still looking to make their mark in a challenging field.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf this is happening to me, I can only imagine smaller artists trying to navigate this industry,\u201d she remarked. \u201cMy heart is just broken.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rowlene noted that she waited several months to pursue public dialogue on the matter after countless attempts to resolve it directly.<\/p>\n

\u201cUnfortunately, even after begging for eight months, yeah, I don\u2019t know,\u201d she expressed.<\/p>\n

Despite the difficulties, the artist assured that she remains committed to her music and continues to create.<\/p>\n

\u201cStill trying to make music, guys,\u201d she remarked. \u201cI just wanna sing and feed my cat, but life\u2019s just making it so impossible.\u201d<\/p>\n
