Model Tino Chinyani, who hails from Zimbabwe, has found himself at the center of conversations as South Africa prepares for its national shutdown on June 30, 2026. Civic groups are organizing large-scale protests that aim to demand the return of undocumented migrants to their countries of origin.

As the national shutdown approaches, Chinyani, who shares two sons with actress Simphiwe ‘Simz’ Ngema, faced ridicule on X (formerly Twitter). On 7 June 2026, a post by user @Nombu_Sodi questioned whether Simz Ngema’s baby daddy was also affected by the ultimatum set for the 30th, writing:

The Love Story of Simz Ngema and Tino Chinyani

Simz Ngema began her relationship with Tino Chinyani after the untimely death of her late husband Dumi Masilela, who was an actor known for his role in Rhythm City and a professional soccer player.

Ngema and Chinyani made their relationship known publicly in August 2020 after they began dating in 2019. This came after nearly three years of Ngema being single following the tragic murder of her husband during a hijacking incident in Thembisa, Ekurhuleni, in 2017.

The pair ended their relationship in September 2021, shortly after Simz celebrated her 32nd birthday. Ngema confirmed their separation through a post on her official Instagram, stating they would continue to co-parent their son amicably.

In March 2023, the couple reignited their romance. By December 2024, Simphiwe Ngema announced that she and Chinyani had welcomed their second child. Recently, they appeared together on an episode of the show Top Billing.
