George Matlou has joined Stellenbosch FC with a clear goal: to assist the club in pursuing significant achievements while embarking on a new phase in his professional journey.<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Following four seasons at Kaizer Chiefs, the 28-year-old midfielder is ready to take on a new adventure in the Cape Winelands, joining a club he feels possesses the structure, ambition, and mindset crucial for success.<\/p>\n

Matlou completed his transfer to Stellenbosch after departing Chiefs at the conclusion of last season, marking the end of a four-year tenure with the Soweto giants. During his period at Naturena, he made 46 appearances in various competitions and gained invaluable experience at one of South Africa\u2019s prominent football institutions.<\/p>\n

Now donning the maroon kit of Stellenbosch, Matlou expresses his enthusiasm for the opportunity that lies ahead.<\/p>\n

\u201cI feel very happy to be here and to be part of Stellenbosch Football Club,\u201d Matlou stated. \u201cI\u2019m looking forward to this new journey that I\u2019ve chosen to take.\u201d<\/p>\n

A club focused on ambition and consistency<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Matlou\u2019s choice to join Stellenbosch was driven by the club\u2019s consistent growth in South African football. In recent years, Stellies have solidified their position as a competitive team in the Premier Soccer League, recognized for their organized style, attacking play, and capability to challenge stronger rivals.<\/p>\n

The midfielder mentioned that he has closely monitored the club\u2019s evolution and has a deep respect for the winning culture they have fostered.<\/p>\n

\u201cStellenbosch is a well-structured club that plays good football and has been competing every season. I saw myself being part of that,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n

\u201cHaving watched and played against Stellenbosch throughout my career, I noticed that this is a team with a winning mentality and an environment where I can achieve even more.\u201d<\/p>\n

Although Matlou is starting anew at Stellenbosch, the Western Cape is not foreign ground for him.<\/p>\n

Prior to his time at Kaizer Chiefs, the midfielder played in the area, representing Cape Town All Stars and Cape Umoya United during loan spells from Bidvest Wits.<\/p>\n

He also gained international experience during a two-season stint in Portugal with Sanjoanense before returning to South Africa to continue his career with Moroka Swallows and later, Kaizer Chiefs.<\/p>\n

Now back in the Western Cape, Matlou is determined to leverage his experience to positively impact Stellenbosch.<\/p>\n
