The SASMAs, now in their sixth iteration with Openserve as a partner, honour contributions within South Africa’s social media sphere by recognizing influencers, content creators, digital figures, and notable online initiatives.

The nominees for 2026 were revealed around August 22, with public voting currently in progress ahead of the awards presentation set for November 21, 2026.

Cassper’s nomination is noteworthy, especially as the Best Gamer category has typically been linked to professional gaming creators. In 2025, the award was won by Beamer Boy TV, highlighting an interesting blend of mainstream entertainment and gaming culture with Nyovest’s nomination.

This recognition comes soon after he took the stage as a host at the 32nd South African Music Awards, marking another significant moment in his dynamic career journey.

It remains to be seen whether his gaming audience will support his nomination, but it is evident that Cassper Nyovest is adept at staying relevant in South Africa’s cultural dialogue.

As public voting opens, the decision now lies with the fans. They are in control of the outcome.
